Have you ever thought about the quality of office furniture before? The kind that can last you a lifetime and beyond? I haven’t. I never really thought about how long office furniture last but there are a lot of information about this and it was surprising for me.
If I had to pick one material that has the potential to last a lifetime, it would be moisture resistant board. Moisture resistant board is a versatile material that can be used in many different applications and environments. Think of all the things you use that are made from MDF or particleboard – your kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanity, even your children’s school desks. These types of materials typically don’t last very long due to their low durability and inability to withstand daily wear-and-tear. That’s where moisture resistant board comes into play!
Did you know that the average lifespan of an office table is just 2 to 3 years?
The reason behind this is simple: most office furniture out there uses cheaper materials and is not built to last as long as moisture resistant board, which can last up to 10 years and beyond.
In fact, you might think your office furniture looks brand new but it’s actually been around for decades! That’s right—many of your colleagues have already sat at their desks in front of the same desktops or tables since they were first introduced by their companies. And they’re still going strong.
Using lower quality materials in the construction of your new desk will mean it will start showing signs of wear within a relatively short time period; this could be anything from discoloration on tabletops through to cracking wood panels (which leads us nicely onto our next topic).
MDF and particleboard are not as durable as moisture resistant boards.
When it comes to durability, you may not have considered MDF and particleboard as your top choice. As we mentioned earlier, both materials are less moisture resistant than moisture resistant boards. They also tend to be less fire resistant than their counterparts.
